Day 233/365

I realize that it's been ages since I had a video or audio entry, so today I'm putting the 'multimedia' back into my multimedia challenge! I finally got around to shooting some video for work today, and thought that some of the footage would be a great addition to this project. The historic former Mill End building that I photographed a while ago, (to jog your memory, I put some of my favorites on my website here), has been schedule to be torn town for quite awhile, and the demolition started today. I took quite a few photos and shot some video in between. While I think demo. sites can be pretty cool to photograph, I was a little sad to see this building go. I only got to see it at its worst, (it had been abandoned for years and it'd be much too expensive for anyone to save it), but even with the damage it had undergone I still thought it had so much character. I wish I could've seen it in its glory.

If you'd like to see photos from today, or the other video I put together, you can find them under the photo and video tabs on my MLive profile.

Day 79/365

Tonight one of my friends and I went out to Headlands Beach to try and catch the Transit of Venus. We were too late to see it, but we did get to see a pretty nice sunset. I took some audio of the seagulls that were keeping us and the rest of the beach-goers company. All in all, it what a lovely way to end my twenty-second birthday!

Day 64/365

Today was a lazy one, probably the first one I've had in a long time. My brother and I were out driving around this evening, so I took a bit of video of our drive home. Nothing too special, but it kept me entertained on the way back nonetheless.

Day 54/365

More petsitting adventures! Along with Sage, I'm also taking care of her feline counterpart, Juno. Juno's the most outgoing cat I've ever been around; she's incredibly affectionate and almost sounds like she's trying to talk with all of the different sounds she makes.

Day 45/365

Springtime means spring noises! Birds chirping, breeze blowing... and lawn mowers mowing. For today's post I stood on the front porch of my mom's house and just recorded the ambient sounds of the birds chirping and flying around and our neighbor working on his yard.

Day 37/365

My apologies, but today I didn't go outside once. I got about two nonconsecutive hours of sleep last night, because every time I swallowed it felt like I was sandpapering my throat. I've been in a Nyquil and herbal tea-induced haze most of the day, hence this video footage of my tea kettle being my entry for day thirty-seven. Here's to better luck tomorrow!

One Month Down!

One month of my 365 multimedia challenge down! It's been fun so far, and I've definitely had to really push myself a few times. I promise I won't make one of these posts for each month I get through; I'll probably save the next one for the six-month milestone, I think. We'll see!

It's definitely been interesting to see which posts were most popular/most viewed. Thanks so much for viewing; only eleven more months to go! Here's the top ten thus far after the jump.

Day 29/365

So far the weather today's been super windy, and the sky looks like it can't make up its mind about whether it wants to storm or not. Since it's so nice out temperature-wise, we've had all the windows in our house open and have been sitting out on the patio a lot. With all the windows also open out there, this little glass wind chime my mom has hanging from the middle of the ceiling has been going crazy. With that being said, I made it my entry for day twenty-nine!

Day 28/365

I originally had something else planned for today's entry, but the cats decided to be funny this afternoon so I'll save my original plan for another day. Instead I put together some video clips of the two cats playing with my mom, with the dogs both making appearances also! And yes, I know; I broke my "no pet posts for awhile" rule pretty quickly. Oh well!

Day 27/365

I went out onto the sidewalk at my mom's house and shot some video of the drizzling rain we've been having on and off all day for entry twenty-seven. I've been feeling a bit sick today so I wanted to make sure I got something done for my multimedia challenge before living in my bed for the rest of the day.

Day 25/365

Today I went out to the Holden Arboretum in northeast Ohio and shot some video of one of the streams that runs under the boardwalk trail. I only had about an hour to explore out there before I had to get back to get ready for work, so I definitely hope to go back again soon when there's more time to check it out.

Day 23/365

I was feeling more indecisive than usual, so I posted both a video and a photo from today's adventure. My mom, brother, and I went down to the Rockefeller Park Greenhouse in Cleveland this morning to check out all the flowers and plants that were in bloom. It was really cool; I'd never been there before. I definitely recommend going - especially with today's random snow dusting, it was nice to pretend it still felt like spring.

Day 22/365

Today was a long and crappy day, to put it mildly. I worked a ten-hour shift at the portrait studio, encountering some of the rudest adults and the most tantrum-prone children I've ever met. Anyways, I came home and thought that I'd record some video of one of our dogs, Kilee, doing some of the crazy stuff she usually does. At least a few times a day she chases her tail until she gets so dizzy she falls down, snaps her teeth as if she's talking back to us, and constantly tries to dig no matter where she is. Of course, as soon as I turned a camera on her, she was stone still... I just have to laugh at my luck, (or lack thereof), sometimes.

Day 19/365

For today's post I did a time lapse video of tonight's sunset. I was hoping for some more dramatic colors than what I ended up getting. I haven't done a time lapse project in a long time, so it was at least a practice in being more patient. It's definitely a practice I think I'll come back to throughout this project, just with a more interesting subject matter next time.

Day 16/365

Today's been mostly overcast with the sun trying to peek out once or twice, but we did have a mild five-minute storm with a bit of rain and thunder earlier this morning. I had just enough time to record some of the thunder, but by the time I went up onto the balcony at my mom's house to take pictures, (or video, like I was originally going to attempt), the rain had already stopped.

Day 12/365

This was the second day in a row where the shoot I had originally planned for didn't work out, so I had to improvise yet again for my 365 entry. Another animal audio post for day twelve, but I think it's different enough from Scout's a few days ago. Our dog, Pete, makes this funny growling/moaning noise when you rub his ears, so today I decided to record that. My mom usually calls it his "bear cub growl," but when we both listened to the recording playback we agreed that it almost sounds like a cross between a pig and a cow. What do you think?

Day 11/365

I got up early this morning and went down to the railroad tracks underneath the 615 bridge with an idea already in mind for today's post. It didn't turn out how I wanted to, so I'll be attempting it another day when I think it'll work out better. Anyways, when I was down by the train tracks I went up alongside one of the buildings and noticed that the rain gutter and drain next to it were making some pretty interesting sounds. I've always liked the textured look of peeling paint as well, and, with the cool-tone morning light, the impromptu opportunity became my entry for day eleven!

Day 10/365

It's another audio post for day ten! I have two cats; one being mine and the other belonging to my friend/former roommate, Amanda, who is currently serving in the U.S. Navy over in Kuwait. Her cat's name is Scout, and she'll be staying with us indefinitely until Amanda's home and out of the service. Scout purrs extremely loudly, so this morning I attempted to record it. I think it comes through pretty well in the file, and the rustling/shuffling noises you hear are Scout rubbing her face up against the mic. I tried to edit around them as much as possible, but she does it pretty frequently so this is what I came up with.

Day 8/365

One week down! Today's post is probably my favorite entry so far. My brother and I were hanging out tonight and I ended up recording him playing around on our dad's old L6-S. Ry's been working on a few of his own songs lately, but he'd only let me record "a few random chords" because he wasn't completely happy with where his own songs were just yet. In the three years since our dad passed away, I've noticed more and more the traits that my brother's inherited from him, but I think that perfectionist tendency when it comes to their music is the biggest one they share. Sometimes it's downright spooky.

Day 5/365

Day five's entry accompanies my first actual video material for my multimedia challenge! Today I went out to Headlands Beach Park and took some video footage of the waves. It was pretty warm out today, but I definitely forgot how much cooler it is when you're right by the lake. I think my feet are still thawing.
