Day 299/365

Saturday's/day 299's belated posted comes to you from C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. I went down to the hospital to see how Jessica and her donor Brian were doing after having a kidney transplant operation done this past Friday. Both were still going through the more uncomfortable stages of recovery, so I opted to come back Sunday/yesterday/day 300 to see if they were feeling more up to having their pictures taken.

While I was waiting to take to a P.R. rep. from the hospital though I got to hang out in the pretty spiffy lobby. The hospital was redesigned last year to be more colorful and fun, with sparkly floors that glitter even more when the colored lights on the ceiling reflect on them. Totally worth the trip down.

Day 118/365

Today was not a great one. I had to cover a memorial service for a little boy who went missing from his home on an Indian reservation up here a few weeks ago, and was eventually "found" dead. That's all I'll put on here, because the rest of it is just a mess that gets sadder and more infuriating the more you hear. If you want to read about him, you can here. I don't know how much national coverage he's been getting, but he's big news in Michigan, and it seems like the criminal investigation surrounding his death that's developing is going to stay in the mainstream media here as well.

Anyways, sad story aside, this morning I first covered a pastor that spiked and dyed his hair for a fundraiser. In order to raise money for a youth group from his church to go on a trip, he grew out his hair and let people vote with donations on which hairstyle he'd don: corn rows, dreadlocks, or a rainbow mohawk. Obviously, the rainbow mohawk won.

Day 29/365

So far the weather today's been super windy, and the sky looks like it can't make up its mind about whether it wants to storm or not. Since it's so nice out temperature-wise, we've had all the windows in our house open and have been sitting out on the patio a lot. With all the windows also open out there, this little glass wind chime my mom has hanging from the middle of the ceiling has been going crazy. With that being said, I made it my entry for day twenty-nine!
