Day 168/365

On Monday/Labor Day/Day 168 I finally got to shoot one of the Great Lakes Loons games, (the minor league team up here in the Bay City/Saginaw area). It was their last game of the season, it was incredibly hot and sunny, they lost badly, but I had so much fun. I love baseball, and I love taking photos, (never would've guessed, right?), and getting to sit in the dugouts and shoot the entire game was just a wonderful combination. The only way it could've been better is if I had been shooting the Tribe, which, coincidentally, was playing Detroit on Monday.

Day 156/365

Today one of my assignments was to get photos of a former Detroit Red Wings hockey player, Kris Draper, visiting the local minor league baseball stadium in Midland. While I was waiting for Draper to arrive at Dow Diamond I got to sit by the dugout and watch the Great Lakes Loons warm up and have batting practice. It was such a nice day out; it was a perfect afternoon for baseball. Unfortunately, I didn't get to stay for the game, but I'm hoping that I get assigned to cover one before this season's over. We'll see!

Day 124/365

Today was definitely a long and busy one. I had three different assignments to cover, which isn't a ton, but each of them took a lot of time and energy. Lots of driving, lots of waiting, lots of walking, and all in the hot sun. I'm definitely ready for some sleep at this point. My first assignment was a little league tournament, and I think my favorite photo from both the game and today in general was this one with one of the players stealing third base. I have an incredibly long day tomorrow, but the majority of it is a vintage car show so I'm pretty stoked!

Day 72/365

Sorry; I know today's post is slightly late, but I did take the actual image on Tuesday so I say it still counts! I went to my first Cleveland Indians game of the season today, and, despite them losing terribly, had a great time. Some of my favorite childhood memories were from going to baseball games with my dad. My mom and brother have never really been baseball fans, so going to a few games each summer was something my dad and I did just the two of us, and it's probably one of the things I miss most about him. I was probably six or seven years old the first time I went to a Tribe game, and I was instantly hooked. My favorite player at the time was Sandy Alomar Jr. and I think I'll always have a soft spot for him; it definitely made me happy when I heard he was coming back to Cleveland as a base/bench coach a few years back. I firmly believe that baseball season is the best season!
