Day 13/365

Today we had some of my cousins over to color Easter eggs and make some spring-themed crafts. We had all these outdoor activities planned out, but after we shivered through an Easter egg hunt we decided we'd hangout inside for the rest of the day. We had a couple bottles of bubbles, so we started blowing bubbles for the dogs and cats to chase around on our patio.

Day 12/365

This was the second day in a row where the shoot I had originally planned for didn't work out, so I had to improvise yet again for my 365 entry. Another animal audio post for day twelve, but I think it's different enough from Scout's a few days ago. Our dog, Pete, makes this funny growling/moaning noise when you rub his ears, so today I decided to record that. My mom usually calls it his "bear cub growl," but when we both listened to the recording playback we agreed that it almost sounds like a cross between a pig and a cow. What do you think?

Day 11/365

I got up early this morning and went down to the railroad tracks underneath the 615 bridge with an idea already in mind for today's post. It didn't turn out how I wanted to, so I'll be attempting it another day when I think it'll work out better. Anyways, when I was down by the train tracks I went up alongside one of the buildings and noticed that the rain gutter and drain next to it were making some pretty interesting sounds. I've always liked the textured look of peeling paint as well, and, with the cool-tone morning light, the impromptu opportunity became my entry for day eleven!

Day 10/365

It's another audio post for day ten! I have two cats; one being mine and the other belonging to my friend/former roommate, Amanda, who is currently serving in the U.S. Navy over in Kuwait. Her cat's name is Scout, and she'll be staying with us indefinitely until Amanda's home and out of the service. Scout purrs extremely loudly, so this morning I attempted to record it. I think it comes through pretty well in the file, and the rustling/shuffling noises you hear are Scout rubbing her face up against the mic. I tried to edit around them as much as possible, but she does it pretty frequently so this is what I came up with.

Day 9/365

Today one of my aunts and I finally got to check out the new Cleveland Aquarium down in the Flats. It was pretty cool, especially since they built it into part of the old Powerhouse and kept as much of the old brick structure as possible. The big shark tank and underwater tunnel were really cloudy so it was hard to see, but these eels were clearly visible in one of the other tanks and particularly mean-looking. Enjoy!

Day 8/365

One week down! Today's post is probably my favorite entry so far. My brother and I were hanging out tonight and I ended up recording him playing around on our dad's old L6-S. Ry's been working on a few of his own songs lately, but he'd only let me record "a few random chords" because he wasn't completely happy with where his own songs were just yet. In the three years since our dad passed away, I've noticed more and more the traits that my brother's inherited from him, but I think that perfectionist tendency when it comes to their music is the biggest one they share. Sometimes it's downright spooky.

Day 7/365

Today was a long one; I worked at the portrait studio all morning and afternoon, and then came home and just about passed out as soon as I found my bed. Before I became officially dead to the world, I walked around my mom's gardens and ended up taking this picture of the forsythia bush in our backyard. I'm not too thrilled with it to be honest, but I'll make it my mission to find something more interesting for tomorrow's post.

Day 6/365

Today was probably the first day this year that's felt like the spring weather typical of northeast Ohio. I drove out to South Euclid this afternoon to do a photo shoot with my cousin and her kids at a local park. On the way back home, I stopped to check out a pond off of one of the side roads and happened upon this mallard. He seemed to be enjoying the cooler weather as much as I was!

Day 5/365

Day five's entry accompanies my first actual video material for my multimedia challenge! Today I went out to Headlands Beach Park and took some video footage of the waves. It was pretty warm out today, but I definitely forgot how much cooler it is when you're right by the lake. I think my feet are still thawing.

Day 4/365

Today's post marks my first audio contribution to my multimedia challenge! This blogging site won't allow me to post a single audio track by itself, so I paired it up with a photo from today and put them both into a video file. Anyways, today I went down to the Mentor Lagoons and took some pictures of the marsh and recorded some of the ambient sounds. Mud not included!

Day 3/365

Today's entry is a two-for-one! My mom's next-door neighbor is out of town this week so we've been taking care of her mail for her. Tonight when I walked over to her yard as the sun was just starting to set I took a few quick pictures of her magnolia tree and put together this diptych!

Day 2/365

Another photo it is for day two! This one was a complete surprise. I went out to my mom's cabin in rural northeast Ohio early this morning and as we were pulling into the driveway we noticed a humongous snapping turtle alongside the fence. It's not obvious here, but its shell was caked in mud so we weren't sure if it had just come out of its nest or not. The photo was taken about two hours ago; this big guy is slowly making his way to the gate entrance that we left open for him to come into the backyard!

Day 1/365

My 365 challenge is kickstarting with a photo! Today was unseasonably warm for a mid-March day in northeast Ohio, so much so that I heard the temperatures today may have broken records, (not positive though). Anyways, my brother and I took our dog, Pete, out to a local park along the Chagrin River and enjoyed the water. It was a beautiful day outside, even if the line towers obstructed the view of the horizon in the center of the park.
